Critical Conversations: Bridging the Algebra Gap for Academic Excellence

We have an exciting conversation happening next week that you do not want to miss out on. If you have a student in middle or high school, you will definitely want to keep on reading because this is especially for you!
Join us on March 11th as APLUS Owner, Jocelyn Park, and current math and science teachers delve into the alarming surge of students experiencing serious deficiencies in math literacy and retention, why we should address this now, and how we can help resolve these challenges.
- This will be an honest discussion about trends we’re seeing inside the classroom regarding students (Grades 7-10) and how their lack of mastery of Algebra is affecting their academic performance in other courses, rippling out to SAT math and even to the sciences.
- The purpose of this chat is to fortify your understanding about what’s happening and provide you with a couple of tips on what you can do at home to support your student.
- We will also cover how APLUS’ programs and resources can help your student overcome these hurdles.
- Q&A will be available at the end of the discussion, so come with curious and open minds.
A friendly reminder that registration for 2024 Summer Camp is also open! Here are some highlights for the upcoming season:
Summer Camp
AM/PM Academic Summer Camp: Since 1998, we have been providing students with the best combination of Math and Critical Reading/Writing summer programs. This year, we intend on continuing these programs to help students minimize learning loss as well as prep for the upcoming school year. Each session is 3 weeks long and each block, either AM (9:00am-12:00pm) or PM (1:30-4:30pm) will provide students with 1.5 hours of engaging instruction in both Math and Critical Reading/Writing. NOTE: We highly recommend new APLUS students to take a placement test either at home or in-person at our Rockville Center.
Evening Programs
For our high school students, we provide a variety of evening programs such as Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus BC, and SAT Prep (which ends right before the August SAT test!).
Boot Camps
SAT Boot Camp: Our advanced SAT Boot Camp course is perfect for those who already have experience with the SAT and do not need comprehensive lessons. The course consists of 5 practice tests and 5 test reviews over 2 weeks— materials all provided by APLUS. Since 2016, this course has become an excellent preparation source for students and reaped fruitful results.
College App Essay Boot Camp: Primarily designed for rising seniors, this course specializes in helping students complete their Common Application and Coalition essays. Not only will this course pair students with an instructor who will provide meaningful feedback, but it will also ensure that students are on track to produce their strongest version of their essays.

About Us
Since 1998, APLUS Education, located in Rockville, Maryland, USA, has been providing quality educational programs for 3rd to 12th grade students to enhance their academics. What makes us different from other learning centers is a group of certified professional teachers whose extensive experience and commitment has helped students excel.
Our Programs
APLUS offers a wide spectrum of enrichment programs, including Math workshops, Writing workshops, Math Olympiad, etc. Most enrichment courses run 16 weeks in Fall and Spring semesters, respectively.
Enrichment
APLUS was founded in 1998 to provide a first-rate supplemental education to students with high aspirations. The APLUS program is best known for its (1) highly qualified teachers, (2) small class size, and (3) advanced curricula. Courses are offered year-round and include elementary mathematics, pre-algebra, geometry, algebra 1, algebra 2, pre-calculus, critical reading and writing, grammar, and writing workshops.
Academic Summer Camp
APLUS was founded in 1998 to provide a first-rate supplemental education to students with high aspirations. The APLUS program is best known for its (1) highly qualified teachers, (2) small class size, and (3) advanced curricula. Courses are offered year-round and include elementary mathematics, Algebra, Geometry, Pre-calculus, Critical Reading and Writing, Grammar, Writing Workshops, SAT and PSAT prep, private school entrance prep (ISEE or SSAT), and magnet school and private school prep.
Test Prep (3rd/5th/8th Grade/SAT/ACT)
Our Test Prep classes are designed to help students hone their test-taking skills and strategies and prepare themselves for the different testing situations that they may encounter throughout their academic career. Classes include mock tests, test reviews, and opportunities to practice various types of test questions. Through targeted practice, students are able to build their confidence and achieve optimal test results.
Tutoring
We understand that every student has unique academic needs, and these cannot be addressed with a “one-size-fits- all” model of instruction. At APLUS Tutoring, your child will receive individual attention from one of our many knowledgeable, experienced, and professional tutors. Sessions are tailored to your child’s specific needs, where academic growth and intrinsic motivation are fostered.
