U.S. Chess Center: Summer 2022 Chess Day Camps & Online Classes REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!

Our Summer Chess Day Camps consist of chess instruction and play, as well as recreational activities. Camp starts at 9:00am ET and ends at 3:00pm ET. Aftercare (until 5:00pm ET) is available for an added fee.

Since 1992, we have been providing challenging instruction and making chess fun for students. Our nationally certified chess teachers are experienced with all levels of ability. Camp will be challenging and interesting for all and our focus is on improving chess skills through practice and lessons. The teachers place more emphasis on learning than on winning. Good sportsmanship is the key to having fun.

Thousands of students have participated in our camps, with many enjoying camp so much that they return year after year and dozens continue to play at a master level. Our students have won more than a dozen national championships, hundreds have earned academic college scholarships, and more than 20 have become national masters.

Campers will need to bring/pack a bag lunch each day. There will be about one teacher per ten students and enrollment is capped at 30 campers total for each week. Depending on the week and camp students rising into grades 2-7 or grades 3-9 are welcome.

Summer 2022 Online Chess Classes

For students rising into grades 3 – 7

Starting the week of June 20th

Our online classes are live and interactive with a nationally certified chess coach; we do not use videos. We stratify students by ability so that everyone is challenged but nobody is mystified. Lessons are designed to help students develop confidence without boring them, and students are encouraged to share their ideas and questions with their group. Our teachers observe and listen to the students to ensure that nobody is left behind.

The Center’s students have won more than 50 state and national chess championships (individual and team) and several hundred of our long-time students have gone on to attend highly selective universities, many on scholarship.

Online classes are 60 minutes, once each week from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm ET (UTC -5). Each class has 20-30 minutes of instruction and 30-40 minutes of supervised play. Classes will start the week of June 20th and there will be eight classes (Monday classes will skip July 4th).

Pawns Groups: Thursdays 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm ET
Knights Groups: Mondays 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm ET
Bishops & Rooks Groups: Mondays 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm ET
