原PO在脸书贴出买来的一大颗洋葱,但担心处理时会刺激眼睛忍不住掉泪,于是上网询问「有什么方法切它不会流泪?」贴文引来逾千人按赞留言讨论,许多网友搞笑地说「叫别人切」、「不要放感情」、「不要切到手就比较不会流眼泪了」、「闭着眼睛切保证不流泪,但会流血」、「拿给阿嬷」、「我都戴泳镜切」。
不过也有内行人正经地传授诀窍,「1.冰过、2.头尾外皮去掉后泡水、3.戴口罩,用电风扇在旁边吹、4.刀子边沾水边切,卖洋葱的人路过」、「冰过比较不会辣眼睛,切之前洒盐,然后快狠准」、「我切没流过眼泪,看网络办法是在水里切,就不会有刺激性物质飞到眼睛」。
除此之外,网络上还有生活智能王也教大家6个方法:
1.将洋葱浸入热水5分钟再切。
2.先将洋葱冷藏20~30分钟再切。
3.可以菜刀和切口先沾水。
4.尽量整颗切完再移动,减少切面接触空气,降低挥发性。
5.洋葱根部留到最后再切,因为硫化物主要分布在洋葱的头尾。
6.可以沿着纤维厚切,减少细胞破坏,这样硫化物也比较较不会挥发在空气当中。

Here’s how to slice an onion the best way, in a few simple steps — with no tears!
The trick to chopping an onion without crying isn’t to purchase some snazzy new glasses, nor to refrigerate your onions before slicing into them. Instead, the best way to cut onions — no matter the shape you’re looking for (diced, sliced, or chopped) — is to protect your fingers and to cut quickly. Once you’re armed with these onion cutting tips, you’ll be able to perfectly chop, cut, and dice an onion for any tasty dish.
Follow these six steps to learn how to chop an onion like a professional chef.
1. Cut off the stem ends, then cut in half.
Using a sharp knife, slice a ½ inch off the top of the onion. Place it face down on the cut-side and cut in half.
2. Peel off the outer layer.
Use your hands to remove and discard the outside papery layer.
3. Make horizontal cuts.
Place the onion, cut-side down and holding the top of the onion, make a few horizontal cuts (about 4) from the stem end to the root, making sure to leave the root end intact (don’t cut all the way through so the onion stays together).
4. Make vertical cuts.
Now make a series of vertical cuts, still making sure to keep the root end intact.
5. Chop the onion.
Cut down perpendicularly to the other vertical cuts. The thinner you make each of the original cuts, the finer the chop will be.
6. Start cooking!
Now that you have perfectly diced onions, you can use them as the base of so many amazing dishes.
